Business Design in a Nutshell
The business design process helps you structure innovation projects when faced with extreme uncertainty, no matter whether you are about to develop a new business model, service or software application or transform an existing one.
Short innovation cycles of around 10 weeks ensure that learning is integrated and complexity is reduced wherever possible. The business design process is thorough but flexible to cater for the needs of each individual customer. It integrates five stages per iteration and guides the project teams through the innovative journey step by step:
Definition of a project focus, assembly of a project team and a support of a Sponsor.
In order to understand the holistic impact of the project, eight discovery areas are being researched, e.g. to understand the world of a potential client.
Using these insights, new business ideas are developed, prioritized and drafted into a business model.
In order to validate our business model, we formulate hypotheses, experiment with them and create a lean version (including the prototype) of our future offering.
The results of our validation are analyzed and integrated into the business model. The next steps are decided on with the sponsor.
